Safe Schools

Hickson Central Public School

2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

1. We will continue to focus on Restorative Practices and Restorative conversations.

We are doing this to help students build community and help students repair harm and relationships after a conflict.

2. We will focus on student behaviour on the bus. We want students to follow the bus rules so that everyone is safe on the bus.

Key Actions or Strategies

  •  Regular Community Circles in classes on topics of Empathy and community building.
  • Use of Restorative Questions when dealing with student conflicts in the classroom and on the yard.
  • Continued focus on education around how our choice of vocabulary and how words can make others feel unsafe at school.
  • Teaching bus expectations at the beginning of the year and regularly throughout the year to keep students safe.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about Hickson's 3 commitments.
  • Work on perseverance when your child is completing a task at home.
  • Remind your child to follow the bus safety rules.
